At EdLingua.com, we're not always fans of general language
textbooks, the main reason being that it's impossible to package the excitement
of a language and culture into one book that'll keep everyone happy.
Instead, we reckon that if you're a skiing fanatic, for
example, you'll be far more motivated and successful watching skiing programmes
in your target language and regularly catching up with the latest events in a
target language website and forum.
When you're surfing the sites and watching those programmes,
however, you'll need a first-class set of language reference books to explain
new grammar points and provide translations. Idiom guides and thematic vocab
books will also prove a great aid to learning.
With this in mind, we present here our tried-and-tested reference books.
Contributors to this site have recommended only those books which they find invaluable
for every-day use; every resource listed here is a winner in its own right. If you
regularly use any books you think we should know about, please let us know using the
contact form.
If you're a literature fan, don't forget to take a look at our guide
to free on-line works here. |
